A) Yes. Window film reduces glare, so you can spend hours working on a computer or watching TV with less eye irritation and fatigue. The darker the tint of the film, the more glare reduction you can expect.
A) No, It can all be removed from any window, if its been there for a few years and its bubbling up, it’ll be harder to remove but definitely doable.
A) Once window film is installed, there are no longer options available for partial or full refund.
A) When you’re trying to decide on the perfect window tint for your glass, consider what you want to achieve performance-wise and how you want the glass to look. There are even more types of tint than listed in this article, but you should now have a better understanding of some of the best types of window tint that you can choose for your home or business. Keep in mind that many performance factors and aesthetic options can be combined, so you don’t necessarily have to settle on just one type of tint.
A) Window film does not prevent glass from breaking. Window film does, however, increase the safety of the glass; due to the very aggressive adhesive, the film helps to hold the pieces of the broken glass together. In the event the glass breaks, due to an accident, someone running into the glass, or an attempted break-in, the glass will break or shatter, but in most instances, the film will help keep the glass intact.
A) Window film does add a degree of shatter resistance to the glass in your home, building, or vehicle. These film bond to glass and help hold dangerous glass fragments in place, should breakage occur due to accident, natural disaster, or illegal entry. The Solar Guard Solutions team has a range of thicknesses and attachment systems to meet the safety or security standard requested.
A) Ultraviolet rays are the main cause of both fade and deterioration. Window films can screen out 99% of the damaging UV rays that can cause fading in furniture, tapestries, artwork, window coverings, flooring, and upholstery. This helps increase the life of your personal property for years.
A) No. The adhesive is meant to adhere to glass only. Window film should only be applied to glass surfaces that have a smooth finish. Plastics, Plexiglas, or Lexan contain too much oil for the film to adhere properly for a long period of time.
A) Yes. Glare can cause eye fatigue, plus washes out your interior and exterior colors. Drawing curtains or closing blinds can make a room feel darker and smaller. This also increases utility bills due to artificial lighting. Window films allow light, but reduces the glare and helps to maintain a more “open” feeling.
A) Be aware that home window tint needs to dry for 30-90 days before you touch or clean it. After that, you can clean the windows but make sure to avoid any cleaners that use ammonia. Warm water, or gently cleaners along with a microfiber cloth or chamois work great for keeping the windows clean.
A) We will calculate your job by overall square footage. Our pricing ranges from $8.00 - $16.00 per square foot depending on the type of film and project difficulty.. Width x Height = "X" x 144 = sq ft
A) Not unless you want it to. With less need to use window treatments to block heat and glare, spaces with filmed windows can actually be brighter.
Choose a clearer film if you want solar control with virtually no change in glass appearance.
Choose a film that is reflective or darkly tinted if you want solar control with some privacy.
You can also use decorative film that mimics specialty glass to create privacy.
A) Yes. According to U.S. Department of Energy statistics, solar heat gain through windows is responsible for about one third of a building’s cooling costs. Window film that reduces solar heat gain can relieve overworked cooling systems, lowering energy use and bills. Some film has insulating properties, for help with heat retention in colder seasons. Ultimately, energy cost savings depend on factors such as type of glass, existence of overhangs, climate and local energy rates. Many window film projects produce a return on investment in just 3 to 5 years, making them well worth considering in lieu of full window replacement.
A) Yes. LLumar safety and security film helps hold broken glass together, reducing the risk of small pieces flying through the air. This film will help you sleep better at night if you have concerns about extreme weather, break-ins or vandalism. Solar and decorative will not protect your glass.

A) Window film is a thin multi-layered polyester material that incorporates many different layers to control different properties, including ultra-violet rays, heat, glare, and privacy. Window film comes in a variety of performance levels and shades.
A) Window film is synthesized using polymer as a base and a number of other ingredients to make it more impenetrable by UV rays and heat. The reason polyester is used for window film is that it can be made in extremely thin but flexible pieces.
A) There are many different types of window films available. Many of these products have specific applications in mind and a set of attributes and material components based on these uses. For example, car window film is slightly different than interior, patterned window film. All of these share certain qualities, however, and are generally created using the super material, polyester. We have found that our window film is a product that people love to know more about.
The Process
Window film’s main component is polyester. Synthetic polymers and polyester weren’t created until the 20th century, when strides were made in polycondensation reactions. Polymer chemistry and the creation of plastics has made the modern age what it is, as many of our products, like water bottles, plastic bags, and electronic product cases, are all made out of some type of polymer. Window film is synthesized using polymer as a base and a number of other ingredients to make it more impenetrable by UV rays and heat. The reason polyester is used for window film is that it can be made in extremely thin but flexible pieces. These don’t warp easily—they shrink minimally over time and keep their texture. Polymer can be clear and without any internal imperfections that would make it difficult to see through.
The Final Product
Chemicals and minerals can be added to the polyester mixture to create decorative window films with different colors and patterns. Window films also call for an adhesive to attach it to the backside of glass. The adhesive and window film together will keep glass from shattering, as it’s reinforced and holds together the glass’s structure. Special reinforced window film, often called security film, can be used specifically for this purpose. Many residential and commercial windows have window film both for the reduction of UV rays getting in and the added safety that results from having glass that won’t break off if someone is trying to break in.
A) Aesthetics, heat control, the film will reduce the amount of heat getting though your windows no matter if its single, double or triple pane (how many sheets of glass per window), with window film you’re going to drastically that. Glare is another big thing, monitors, TVs if you’re in the office, another thing is UV protections, paintings, floors, furniture all of that can get discolored because of the harmful UV rays regardless if its single or dual pane. It block s99% of the harmful UV rays to help reduce the chance of fading. Privacy, a lot of ppl want to be able to have their blinds or curtains open.
A) This is dependent on a number of factors: The types of materials used, the window that the film is placed on, the orientation of the window, and even local climate can all affect the long-term resiliency of window film. However, we expect LLumar window film to last 10-20 years or more.
A) The most important thing to remember is that large windows (over 15 sq ft or so) are subject to thermal fracture if too dark of a window film is applied. Be sure to use semi reflective residential window film to help reduce this risk.
A) Yes! We do have a $250 project minmum though.
A) Film percentages stand for light transmission, or the amount of light that is allowed through the film. The lower the percentage, the darker the film.
A) Yes! The Solar Guard Solutions team has access to hundreds of films that are safe for dual pane windows and even come with a warranty that covers the existing glass warranty!
A) CDF is “clear distortion free” adhesive. This a patented technology in Vista and Llumar films that allows the film to chemically bond to the glass. With this technology, the film has never had an adhesive failure unlike the traditional “sticky” adhesive of other tint brands.
A) Traditional died films will fade in the sun and start to turn purple due to the loss of color. The Solar Guard Solutions team offers a full range of films that contain NO DYE, this way there is no chance of color change. These films also have the CDF adhesive to avoid the bubbling of traditional “sticky / PS” adhesive.
A) Both, 90% of the time we install on the inside due to longer warranty, but sometimes if a burglar bar or something covering the windows, we do have exterior window film that is meant for the outside but it doest come with a lifetime warranty because its easier to get touch by the outside elements, it typically comes with 5-7 year warranty typically. Increasing the risk of it being damaged outside.
A) In some cases, exterior window film is the only option to access the glass to due walls, desks, etc. on the inside of the building. Exterior tint is also great for changing the appearance of the building. Some types of glass aren’t safe to tint from the inside, so exterior films can be a great way to save energy.
A) After installing the window film, there some moisture will remain trapped between the film and the glass. It can take several days for the moisture to evaporate and the adhesive/film to completely cure. This is very dependent on outside temperatures and sunshine. Once the moisture evaporates completely, your windows should have excellent clarity.
A) Damaged window film cannot be repaired, but the damaged piece of film can be removed and new film installed.
